Why bridges need dedicated monitoring

A cross-chain bridge moves value between otherwise-incompatible blockchains, usually by locking an asset on the source chain and minting a representative token on the destination chain (or vice versa to redeem). Bridges have historically been the single largest category of blockchain security losses -- billions across incidents like Ronin and Wormhole -- because the lock/mint logic concentrates enormous value in one place and has repeatedly had subtle validation bugs. Bridge monitoring tools watch for anomalies (a mint happening without a corresponding lock, unusual volume spikes) as an early-warning layer, precisely because the stakes of a bridge failure are so high.
