Database Hosting Tools

Running and operating databases as a service, self-hosted or managed.

Doesn't connect to Decentralized.Host

Decentralized.Host offers no managed databases. You can run a database as a workload with a replicated volume, but nothing about that has been validated for production.

Managed vs. self-hosted, the real tradeoff

A managed database service (RDS, Neon, PlanetScale) handles provisioning, automated backups, patching, and failover for you, in exchange for a markup and less low-level control. Self-hosting means you run the database yourself (usually as a container or systemd service) -- cheaper, fully controllable, but every operational concern (backup schedule, disk monitoring, version upgrades, replication if you want it) becomes your responsibility rather than a vendor's SLA.
