Docker Management Tools
Building, running, and operating Docker containers and images day to day.
Docker is one of two runtimes. With `runtime: docker`, hosts run digest-pinned images through the Docker CLI with enforced --memory/--cpus and OOM detection. Decentralized.Host does not build images or manage Docker itself.
The core Docker workflow
Docker packages an application with its dependencies into an image (a layered, immutable filesystem snapshot built from a Dockerfile), which becomes a running container when started -- an isolated process tree with its own filesystem view, network namespace, and resource limits, sharing the host kernel rather than virtualizing a whole OS. Day-to-day management means building images (docker build), running and restarting containers (with restart policies so they survive a crash or host reboot), managing volumes for anything that needs to persist beyond a container's lifetime, and cleaning up unused images/layers before disk fills.
