Reverse Proxy Tools
Software that sits in front of backend services, routing and terminating traffic on their behalf.
The edge role of dh-noded is a reverse proxy: it terminates HTTP(S) and forwards over the WireGuard mesh through per-assignment forwarders. It is built in, not Traefik or nginx.
What a reverse proxy does
A reverse proxy sits between the public internet and your actual application servers: it receives every request first, then forwards it to the right backend based on rules (usually the requested hostname or URL path), and often also terminates TLS, adds compression, and handles routing changes without the backend needing to know anything changed. This is the opposite of a forward proxy (which sits in front of clients, not servers). Nginx, Caddy, HAProxy, and Traefik are the most common choices; each differs mainly in configuration style and how dynamically they can pick up new routes.
