The real workflow
Smart contracts (Solidity on EVM chains, Rust-based programs on Solana) are code that runs deterministically on-chain, where every node in the network executes it identically and agrees on the result. The real toolchain around this is substantial: a framework for compiling and testing locally against a simulated chain (Hardhat/Foundry for EVM, Anchor for Solana), a way to deploy to a real network, and -- because bugs here can directly mean stolen funds, unlike a normal app bug -- a real auditing discipline (static analysis tools, and for anything holding real value, a paid professional audit) before mainnet deployment.
